Womens Literacy Project
Coincidently it was International Family Day and JBF Welfare Organization started a new project for women.
We called this project as Women Literacy project and this is a collaboration project of JBF WO with All India Committee For Eradication of Illiteracy Among Women.
On 8th May’07, a team of JBF lead by Dr. Smriti, Secretary, JBF WO had a meeting with the women from Viklang Basti. JBF team discussed on different aspect with them as follows…
- Illiteracy among women:- Present day problems they are facing.
- Socio-economic condition:- Could be improved if they cooperate.
- Making some small groups among themselves with common interest:- could be a income source for them.
- Early marriage of girl child: How much harmful for the blossoming life which is again one of the major cause of illiteracy.
- About the rights within the family and in the society: which will be better understanding and effective if they come forward.
- About the Bank account (Suggested from your side): which could be very much fruitful & effective at their condition.
Thus, while drawing conclusion we found very positive & good response from the ladies present and a better sign for starting the project for them.
We had enrolled 20 names of women in the meeting keeping open for enrolment of more names who will come forward to join us.
As stated above, the project will be in collaboration with AICFEIAW and Dr. Sashanka, Administrator – JBF WO had a discussion with them on 7th May’07. We informed AICFEIAW about the meeting with the women from V. Basti and took a decision to start the project on 15th May’07.
On the Inaugural Day, besides the JBF team Mrs. Afsia Ahmed, Project Coordinator AICFEIAW, another two well wishers Mr. Torben H Larsen & Mrs. Radhika Larsen, Directors of Dannebrog Learning were also present. Mrs. Afsia Ahmed addressed the women and told about the project……… Mrs. Radhika Larsen, in her speech told the women present how to take care of their kids. Both the speeches were quite informative and helpful for the women present.
At last copies were distributed among women and asked them to visit regularly to the centre for the education.
